Fjord Soaring is operated by its founder Jo Inge Bjørø. Jo Inge is the originator of cross country flying in Western Norway. Wisdom used to be that it was impossible to fly cross country above this unforgiving terrain, but by carefully mapping out landing opportunities Jo Inge showed that it was possible to safely do cross country flying even here. And he has since taught generations of new sailplane pilots in Western Norway to fly here.

He is also a competent competition pilot with numerous Norwegian championships to his name, and has also contested several World Championships, and today also his students continue with impressive competition results.
